How do I make calls and send SMS?

If you wish to call or SMS a Canadian phone number you need to include the country's calling (+1). For example if the phone number 704 852 5326 then you will need to dial +1 704 852 5326 (To get the + on a mobile phone, press and hold 0 until it turns into a +)

Overseas

If you are wanting to call a country other than Canada,or USA, then you can stay in touch with your family and friends by sending them messages and calling them via data based apps such as Whatsapp, Viber, Snapchat, Messenger, Skype, iMessage etc.

How do I recharge this sim card?

The SIM Card plan will last 30 Days from activation. If you are staying longer than 30 days and wish to recharge the sim you can do this by calling T-Mobile customer service on +1-877-453-1304 from your mobile handset.

Once you have exceeded your data limit, your data service will stop and you will only be able to make calls and send texts.

Alternatively, as another option if you are travelling for longer than 30 days, you can purchase additional sim cards based on the duration of your travels. If you are travelling for 60 days you can purchase 2 separate sim cards, and then swap them over at the end of each 30 day period (however, each sim card will have a different phone number). You will need to put the arrival date for the second sim card approximately 30 days after the original activation date. For example, if you are travelling from 1 March to 30 April, you will purchase 2 sim cards and have the arrival date for the first sim card noted as 1 March and the arrival date for the second sim card noted as 1 April.

You have the option to add the $15 International Talk and Text Feature during purchase of USA Sim Card which will give you Unlimited calls to Standard Landlines to Australia, New Zealand and other landlines in select countries (Premium numbers not included) and unlimited texting back to Australia, NZ and 200 other countries. This is a add-on feature and comes with set features.

You will need to add credit on top of this $15 International feature if you want to call an International Mobile that has a per minute rate and is not Unlimited. Calls to Australian mobiles are 7 cents per minute, or calls to NZ Mobiles 8 cents per minute, however mobile calls to select countries such as UK Mobiles are unlimited.

You can search the countries and rates via the link HERE. If you just add credit without adding this $15 international talk feature, then you will be charged at the pay as you go rates which are very expensive. These rates can also be viewed with the previous link.

What do I need to do before I depart?

Make sure that your device is unlocked before you depart for your trip.

Please note: Being on a post-paid plan or contract with your local carrier doesn't mean your phone is locked. If you are unsure, please check with your current service provider.

What happens if I am travelling for longer than X Days?

This sim cannot be recharged. If you are travelling for longer than 30 days, we advise that you purchase additional sim cards based on your duration of travel and place an activation date approximately 30 days apart for each sim and change the sim over at the end of 30 days.

For example, if you are travelling for 56 days and are departing on the 1st of September, then you should select 2 for the quantity (qty) and add them to the cart. Then in the cart page enter the activation date for the first sim as 1st September and then press the "+" to enter the activation date for second sim as 30th September. Whilst on your travel, insert the first sim card to get connected and after 30 days all you need to do is swap the sims over to remain connected throughout your trip. (Please note: each sim card will have a different phone number). As long as you are aware your 30 days will begin from the activation date you provide for each sim, it's up to you what date you provide for each sim ensuring it covers you for your duration. It's fine to have services overlap.

However, you MUST contact us whilst you are having the issue, so our team can assist you in resolving your problems. Please do this when you are in WiFi (generally at the airport when you land if not working to begin with) or e-mail us from your accommodations (WiFi) or cafe etc.

If you only decide to contact us after you return to let us know the sim didn't work then we can't look to provide a refund as we won't be able to see exactly what the issue was and why it didn't work.

What settings do I need to change/update to use this sim card?

You simply need to have both MOBILE DATA and DATA ROAMING functions ENABLED/TURNED ON in your phone to use the service. The sim card will be active from the activation date you have provided. It is on this date that your 30 days of service will have commenced.

What will my phone number be?

You will be assigned a USA based phone number for this travel sim card. Your local USA phone number is only generated once the sim card is activated (based on the activation date that you note at the time of purchase). You 30 days of service will commence from this date. Upon arriving in the USA, Canada or Mexico and after inserting the sim card in your mobile phone, you can go into your phone settings menu to view your USA phone number. You will also receive a text message from T-Mobile noting your local USA phone number.

Can I get my phone number earlier?

When a sim is activated we are able to retrieve the phone number from the system. As an option, if you are travelling for less than 30 days you can look at providing an earlier arrival date when purchasing the sim card, bearing in mind that your 30 days of service will still begin from that date. You can then e-mail us on the activation date you provided requesting your phone number which we can then forward to you.
