Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers about eSIMs, SIM cards, setup, plans and using SimCorner while you travel.
SimCorner provides data plans for international trips; the process works as follows:
- Select a product: Choose an eSIM or tourist SIM card based on your phone compatibility.
- Follow setup steps: Set up your eSIM based on its activation trigger, or register your SIM’s activation date.
- Connect on arrival: Insert your SIM or turn on data roaming after landing to connect.
Before purchasing from SimCorner, verify these critical device requirements:
- Carrier Lock Status: Ensure your device is carrier-unlocked.
- eSIM Capability: If you want to buy an eSIM, confirm your phone supports this technology.
- Network Support: Verify your phone supports modern 4G/5G VoLTE bands. Legacy 2G and 3G networks are being retired globally, so non-VoLTE devices cannot connect at such destinations.
Your device must be carrier-unlocked to use an international eSIM or SIM card. Check your phone’s settings:
- iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About and confirm that No SIM restrictions under Carrier Lock.
- Android: Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks and search for local networks manually.
Alternatively, insert a SIM from another provider. If error messages appear, your phone is carrier-locked. Read our guide on carrier-unlocked phones to learn more.
The amount of data you need for a trip depends on your travel style and usage type as follows:
- Light Usage (0.5-2 GB/day): Ideal for navigation, messaging, emails, casual social media browsing, and ride-hailing apps.
- Heavy Usage (3+ GB/day): Recommended for HD video streaming and uploads, video calling, remote work, or hotspot sharing.
Use our guide to calculate travel data needs and estimate your daily usage before buying.
SimCorner typically offers two types of international eSIM plans:
- a) Fixed data (Flexi, Ultra, and Essential)
- b) Unlimited data
Both data plans offer flexible validity periods and data limits, so you pay only for the connectivity you need. Browse our destination pages to choose the ideal plan for your trip.
- Flexible Data: Choose from 1-500GB fixed packages or a 3GB daily unlimited plan.
- Calling & Texting: Select plans include local European phone numbers with call and SMS allowances.
- Suitable For: Light users, families, digital nomads, and business travelers.
No, you don’t need a separate eSIM for every country on your trip:
- Regional Trips: Ideal for traveling within a specific area (like Europe or Asia), a regional travel eSIM or SIM card automatically connects to local networks as you cross borders.
- Multi-Continental Trips: For itineraries spanning multiple continents, global plans maintain continuous coverage on one setup without swapping profiles or purchasing extra SIM cards.
If you exhaust your travel data plan limit, access depends on your plan:
- Fixed Data Plans (Flexi, Ultra, Essential): Connection stops once you reach your total allowance.
- Daily Unlimited Plans: Speeds drop to 128kbps after the daily 3GB high-speed allocation is exhausted. It resets every 24 hours.
Yes, you have to turn OFF data roaming for your home/primary SIM line and keep it ON for your travel eSIM line, as follows:
- Home Line: Turn Data Roaming OFF to prevent your home carrier from triggering expensive daily roaming fees.
- Travel eSIM: Turn Data Roaming ON so your device can connect to supported local networks at your destination.
