It all started when our founders returned to Australia after an overseas trip, only to be shocked by a $700 roaming bill—just for checking a few emails and sports scores! Realizing they weren't alone in this problem, they set out to find a solution to expensive roaming fees.
Pioneering the concept in Australia, SimCorner officially launched with retail kiosks at Melbourne and Sydney airports. Our mission was simple: to provide travelers with affordable, tailored SIM cards for their destinations. Soon after, we expanded online with our eCommerce store, allowing travelers to secure their SIM cards quickly and conveniently with just a few clicks.
This was a breakthrough year for SimCorner. We won our first Canstar Award for Most Satisfied Customers – Travel Phone Plans, cementing our reputation for outstanding service. It was also the year we expanded globally, launching distribution centres in New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and Europe, making it easier than ever for travellers to stay connected.
Then, the world came to a standstill. COVID-19 halted travel, and SimCorner temporarily went into hibernation. But even in the toughest times, our commitment to travellers never wavered. When travel resumed, we came back stronger than ever—with a fresh new website, expanded product offerings, express delivery options, and a bigger customer service team—ready to support travellers better than before.
